My Experience with Microblading (Semi Permanent Brows)!
Hello Everyone,
I know it's been a long time and I apologize for that as it has been quite crazy with the many transitions happening in my life. Anyway, I'm super excited to get back into blogging and sharing about everything I've been trying out and my most recent experience has been with micro-blading my brows! Here it goes! Check out the pictures below for a before and after!
First off, you may be wondering "what is micro-blading?"
Micro-blading is a procedure where a specialized micro-blading pen is used to penetrate only the first layer of your skin. This process uses a semi permanent ink that lasts for around 1-2 years. a better idea of how they will look for the 1-2 years that they are permanent.
The Process
So I had my first experience ever getting my eyebrows done today. First off Tiffany, the lady who did my brows who I totally recommend, put a topical anesthetic on my brows for about 15 mins to make sure that I would not feel the pain. During this time, I signed some paperwork and she showed me some after care tips. During this time, we also mixed around some colours that I would want on my brows and finally came up with a perfect mix for my skin tone and hair colour. You can definitely custom mix your colour (which is AWESOME!).
When the anesthetic was finished doing its job, she wiped it off and started drawing on the shape of my brows that she would micro-blade. This is the process that takes a bit of time as you want to ensure that the two brows are even. This is when you can let whoever is doing your brows know what shape you want and how dark you want your brows.
After this tedious process of measuring and drawing the brows in, it is time for the process of micro-blading to begin. I was told to lie down a salon bed and she began perfecting the outline and starting the process of micro-blading. I was really nervous at first and didn't know what to expect pain-wise. I would say that the first couple of applications of the ink into your brows are more painful. The pain will be different for different people. Both of my brows had different reactions to the pain as one brow was more sensitive than the other (weird, eh?). After the initial application, Tiffany put on another anesthetic and after this, I did not feel a thing the rest of the way.
After all the micro-blading is finished, Tiffany put the remainder of the ink on my eyebrows (like caterpillars) to ensure that the ink sinks into my skin and stays. This process usually takes 15 mins.
When the 15 mins is up, all that's left to do is wipe off the excess ink and moisturize the brows with grape seed oil or coconut oil. The moisturizing of the brows is very important as it makes sure when your skin starts scabbing, the brows will not be dry.
***I can't stress enough how much your brows will fade in the first couple of weeks, so don't worry if they look super bold and scary at first. They will be more natural, I promise! ***
Aftercare
Following the procedure, it takes about a week-10 days for your brows to fully heal. During this time, the brows will also become more natural as they are quite bold when you first get them done (as mine are now). It's really important to keep it moisturized and not put any makeup on it for the first week. It will start itching up, as I'm told, in a few days, so putting coconut oil or grapeseed oil will help relieve the itch and moisturize the brow.
Pricing
I got my micro-blading done for $200. This is a special that Tiffany has for the month of April, so if you're in the GTA and you're thinking about micro-blading, definitely check her out on her instagram! This price includes the initial application and micro-blading process and also the touch-ups in 4-6 weeks. It is recommended that I get it touched up about once a year to ensure that it stays on.
Was it worth it?
To me, it's definitely worth it because instead of spending 10 mins on my brows in the morning, now I can just put on concealer and head out the door. It saves me a lot of time and effort especially for the days when I just don't feel like putting any makeup on. Eyebrows are the most important features on your face, so even on no makeup days, you look put together. This process definitely isn' for everyone, but for those who want to invest in it, I'd say it's worth it for the year.

ReplyDeleteIt is good to read experiences of people went for permanent makeup. This makes me feel more confident. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteMicroblading is definitely the way to go. I used to spend forever filling in my brows every day because they were so sparse, but microblading has saved me from all that. Highly recommend.
